City will Build Nursing House for Elderly Residents

Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will build nursing homes in in the form of villa for the elderly resident (lansia) who previously lived in low-cost flat (apartment).

‎The nursing homes will be built on the land of 90 hectares in Ciangir area, Banten and called werda house.

The project will be built by Jakarta Provincially-Owned Enterprises (BUMD). "We hope the master plan can be done by this year," told Ika Lestari Adji, Jakarta Housing and Government Building, Wednesday (6/3).

Adji revealed, the project is a follow up action from Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) order who asked to move the elderly from flats to a more-decent place like villas or cottages.

"The 90 hectares land not only will be used for werda house, but we will also build the social and economy building at there," she revealed.

She added, the building project will use City Budget (APBD) through government investment participation (PMP).

"We will take it from APBD but it is still not discussed because we still work on master plan," she disclosed.
